Family records from Turner/Day side claim Henry was orderly sergeant in 24th Regt, Capt. Capon's Co., in 1775, in the siege of Boston. Parts of his diary exist. !SRC DAR Lineage Book, 49:211, 1910, Mrs. Mary Queal Beyer: Henry enlisted, 1775, a as sergeant in Capt. Oliver Capron's company, Col. Ephriam Doolittle's 24th Massachusetts regiment. Ephriam Doolittle's (24th) regt.; receipt for advance pay, signed by said Ingalls and others dated Camp at Cambridge, June 24, 1775; also Sergeant, same co. and regt.; muster role dated Aug. 1, 1775; enlisted May 5, 1775; service, 3 mos. 4 days; also company return [probably Oct., 1775]; also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money dated Richmond, Nov. 26, 1775. !SRC DAR Lineage Book #133078 & #144246 "Henry Ingalls (1738-1813) served as private, sergeant and lieutenant, New Hampshire; also Town Clerk, Justice of the Peace, Member of Town Committee, Selectman and Signer of Association Test, Richmond, N.H. He was born in Rehoboth, Mass; died in Otsego County, N. Y."
