    • From Kieth Jones: Horace Sage Parmentier, of Daniel H. And Elizabeth ( Mosher ) Parmentier, was born 28 Novemember 1834 at Linley Mills, New York , and died 26 August 1900 at Barrett. On July 6 1857 at Altoona, Knox County Illinois, he married Mary Olive Gray, born December 6 1836 and died 23 mar 1910 Barrett. Her mother's maiden name was Price. Horace Sage Parmentier came to Barrett by train. He had worked for his Aunt Guli Elma ( Mosher ) & Horace Sage in Illinois when he was young m man. After the Civil War he felt that there were more opportunities in Kansas and moved his family to Barrett in 1876, lt a frame house there and remained the rest of his life. He was carpenter and stone mason by trade. He helped build the stone school house at Barrett. During the Civil War he was a Private in Company K. 83rd Illinois Regement. He recived a surgeons Certicate of Disability at Cairo Illinois in 1863. He was a member of the Barrett Methodist Church. Daniel Parmentier, Horace Sage Parmentier's father was French Caadian. He migrated to New York where he married later and settled in Illinios. Children Horace and Mary born in Victoria Illionois were David; Charity; Frank; Harriet ( Hattie) Emma Jane; Guli Elma; Horace Joel, born 19 march 1868, and died 1949, Horace Joel married in 1896 to Minnie J. Harvey, daughter of Robert and Amelia ( Mills) Harvey; Maude Jones is a granddaughter of Horace Sage Parmentier. Obituray of Maude Jones' sister Jane: Ganbett-Jane Edith Holcomb, 102, Garnett, died Monday August 21 , 2000, at a Garnett hospital. She wa born Nov 16 1896 in Marshall County, to Horace Joel and Minnie Josephone Harvey Parmentier. She wass a teacher and a nurse for the American Red Cross. She married Floyd richard Holcomb on November 14, 1922 in Juncion city. He died December 21, 1978. Survivors include a son, William R. Holcomb, Mulvane; a daughter, Jeannie Higginbottom, Garnett; a brother, william parmentier, Frankfor; a sister, Maude Jones, Frankfort; six grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Servisces will be at 10 a. m. wednesday at First united Methodist Church in Garnett, Kansas, burial will be in Garnett Cemetery.
