  !1)History of Seneca Co, 1876, page 128 gives 450 word biography of Hartwell. He received a medal of honor from congress; was a "Brevet-Colonel", having risen from lowly Corporal; many honors, battles, promotions. Went to Michigan, 1866; a builder; then to Chicago, after "the great fire", where he built some of "the finest and largest buildings in the city".
